Bird Watching in Assi Ganga Valley, Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand
Background:
A Nature Guide Training Program
was conducted at the Nanda Devi Institute’s base camp at Kuflon, Uttarkashi
during 27th October -1st November 2018 to promote nature based
tourism as a livelihood option for local unemployed youth of District Uttarkashi.
The training of 21 youth from the villages of Barsu, Natin, Dwari, Pala, Saura,
Gorshali and Sainj was sponsored by the Reliance Foundation,
Uttarkashi. Nanda Devi Institute also contributed by sponsoring the training of
nine youth from the villages of Seku, Agoda, Nald, and Uttron.
As a subsidiary of the Mountain
Shepherds Initiative, the main object of the
Nanda Devi Institute of Adventure Sports (NDI) is to design and conduct need based
adventure training program for the conservation and livelihood promotion of the
rural youth of Uttarakhand. Certified by
the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM), NDI is offering certified courses
in basic mountaineering, S&R and disaster response. NDI is also designing
the first fully interpretive trail to Nanda Devi National Park.

Birding locations: A five kilometer up and down stream hike
and from the course venue and Kuflon specific observations.
Sessions: Morning
and afternoon sessions between 7.30 AM-9.30 AM and 3 PM-4.30 PM
